in Uganda

Well housing

Adam Baldachin

Adam Baldachin is our new Be’chol Lashon Intern. He will be working with the Abayudaya community on the ground in Uganda from October 2007-June 2008. He will be teaching Hebrew and computer classes in addition to assisting with on-going projects.

Adam earned a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) in 2006. Since then, he has deferred from JTS Rabbinical School for two years to gain some professional and personal experience.

Adam is an active member of the Nabagogye synagogue on Shabbat and enjoys leading services and chanting from the Torah. He is thrilled to be working with such a committed community, and is looking forward to the months ahead.

The Abayudaya Executive Committee, the democratically elected community council, requested that Be'chol Lashon serve as the clearinghouse for long range planning and fundraising efforts on behalf of the Jewish community of Uganda. All funds raised for the Abayudaya Community Health and Development Plan have been matched dollar-for-dollar by a challenge grant, as will all additional donations. This inspirational project is becoming a reality through your generosity. To donate, click here.

We are delighted to update you on the progress of the Abayudaya Community Health and Development Plan.
